We'd like to share our past history and look forward to making new history with you by our side:

2004

June – Global Beats is launched as a weekly global music fusion event at Déjá Vu Lounge in the Strip District.
July – Global Beats hosts soccer party as part of the international game activities related to Italy Roma vs England Chelsea match at Heinz Field.
Fall – Global Beats hosts an Armenian and Turkish night in partnership with the Turkish Professional Organization. Umoja also hosts an African night at Global Beats.

2005

Winter – Global Beats hosts a Persian night and raises ~ US $500.00 in fundraising efforts to aid Asian Tsunami victims.
Spring - Global Beats hosts a Colombian event in partnership with Colombia en Pittsburgh group plus a Brazilian, Venezuelan, Mexican Cinco de Mayo, an Arabic night, plus an International Singles’ Night and an Afro-Latin night.
Summer – Global Beats hosts a Greek Night, a Spanish and Indian night in partnership with Los de Pata Negra Spanish Group and Tamarind Restaurant. Record attendance of about 300 at the Indian night.
Fall - Global Beats welcomes all to a French and German Oktoberfest night.

2006

January - Global Beats hosts another Turkish night.
February – Global Beats goes on break...
June – Global Beats hosts the Football World Cup Party and brings NYC band Nation Beat. Another well attended event sponsored in part by Lanxess Corporation.
August - Global Beats returns to a new venue, the AVA Lounge in E. Liberty and hosts its first night in partnership with the Colombia en Pittsburgh organization. Event is now monthly. An affiliation with Putumayo World Music Label is solidified.
October - Global Beats welcomes the Asian community in partnership with the Center for Asian Studies at the University of Pittsburgh and PAAYA organization.
November – Nation Beats Band performs as part of Global Beats Afro-Brazilian night. Global Beats joins the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust in an effort to promote the Acoustic Africa Tour.

2007

January - Global Beats breaks its AVA Lounge attendance record by welcoming about 200 people to Carla’s birthday party and fundraiser to help the Dreams Can Be Foundation.
February - Another record breaking attendance at the Rio to Beijing Carnival Night honoring Brazil’s greatest street party and the Chinese New Year.
March - Global Beats presents special DJ “the Baglady” and presents Putumayo’s Gypsy Grooves with focus on Global Hip Hop and Balkan Beats.
April - Special DJ Chanel joins Global Beats.
May - DJ Pete Spynda from Pandemics joins Global Beats.
July - Colombia en Pittsburgh joins Global Beats to celebrate Colombia’s independence.
August - SOLD OUT night at Global Beats in collaboration with CMU’s Graduate Student Organization. Food buffet by Abay Ethiopian Restaurant. Carla Leininger and Global Beats are featured on Allegheny West Magazine, page 44 , article titled "She Beats to the Drums of Other Worlds.
September - Co-sponsored by the Center for Latin American Studies, Global Beats becomes the “after party” following the Latin American and Caribbean Festival."  Global Beats is featured on Pittsburgh Magazine in October issue.
November - Global Beats celebrates “African” night in partnership with African Student Society from the Univ. of Pittsburgh and Abay Ethiopian Cuisine.

2008

February - Global Beats features a Brazilian carnaval night and brings live percussion music by Pittsburgh’s local group ensemble: Samba Pittsburgh.
March - Dirty Dancing Night.
April - Cuban night playing traditional music as well as the contemporary artists. Event featured on Pop City Media Arts and Culture Section
May - Gypsy and Arabic Grooves night with live Eastern European music by Gypsy Strings.
June- Global Beats partnered with PUMP and presented Javier Garcia from Miami and Nation Beat from NYC at Market Square as part of the Stay and Play Friday series. Grant Award from Multicultural Arts Initiative.  Nation Beat also performed at the Shadow Lounge Anniversary Party with support from the Heinz Foundation Small Arts Initiative.

July- Global Beats partnered with Colombia en Pittsburgh as part of Colombia Independence festivities. Event featured on Pittsburgh Arts Council email blast.  Global Beats donated $100 to United for Colombia www.unitedforcolombia.org) and is featured on their website.

August- Launch of new Global Beats Site and 2-year celebration party with Salsa from Around the World!

November -Collaboration with CMU’s Graduate Student Organization
